Nutrilett®, a product owned by the Norwegian company Nutri Pharma is now being launched in the USA under the brand name of ScanDiet®. The product is being launched in all 50 states by General Nutrition Corporation (GNC) who holds the product rights for the the healthfood, pharmacy and certain other sectors. GNC is the largest health food chain and ScanDiet® will be found in more than 4,000 outlets. The number of outlets is expected to have increased to more than 6,000 by 2004.

ScanDiet® will additionally be sold through the network of GNC's strategic partner, Rite Aid. This pharmacy chain consists of 1,500 outlets throughout the USA.

GNC has a strategic co-operation also with the internet company drugstore.com and ScanDiet® will be offered to the American consumer also through this channel.

65% of the US population are regarded as obese and approximately 52% have too high values of cholesterol.

ScanDiet® will be the first soy-based, full meal-replacement, dietary product to be launched in the USA. FDA has stated that soy has a positive effect on high cholesterol and ScanDiet® therefor will be seen to have such additional benefits.

ScanDiet®'s positive effect on weight reduction has been documented in 16 different scientific studies and the positive effect on cholesterol has been documented in several similar studies.
